Valve tags are hardly the most amazing thing we make, but these are slightly more interesting than the usual brass, stainless steel, aluminium or acrylic ones. Pro-Lock based in Poulton-Le-Fylde Lancashire, produce custom coded lockout devices which are used across multiple oil and gas Installations worldwide. They asked us to laser etch through powder coated, 316 grade stainless valve tags, something we had never done on such items before, (ok…we have laser etched powder coated aluminum signs but these were tricky because they were small).

We produced 2000 each of both types above, which took a lot of handling, making jigs, cleaning residue off and so on. The finished results are great and far more durable than print; perfect for the hostile environments they will undoubtably find themselves in.

We have just supplied these laser etched stainless steel identification tags to Bauer Kompressoren, the world’s leader in the manufacture of high-pressure compressors and component systems. Laser cut marine grade stainless steel with a DP1 brushed finish, we used our fibre laser marking system to apply a permanent product identification mark to these machine plate tags. Bauer supplied us with drawings, and we set up all the CAD artwork on their behalf, with each metal tag containing a unique serial number identification to help with the traceability.

The laser mark applied is highly detailed, accurate and permanent. Along with the durability of the stainless steel, these ID tags are more than suitable for a wide range of industrial environments and conditions. They are also a very cost-effective option for companies that required product identification plates, ID labels, steel tags, metal rating plates and asset labels.
